Just curious the thoughts on this the AIFL was known for 1 and done teams if they even finished the 1 year, Danville is kinda out there on their own as far as geography goes their closest opponant is in CAnton Ohio which is like 6 plus hours away. Oddly enough the Demolition Website looks like crap since it rarely get updated then when it does it is 1 line and that is it. No New pictures, stats, game recaps, nothing. I have been at every game so far, Spending my $10 per game to go see this so called football team. I will give them that the new QB I cant tell you his name #15 is awsome but the rest of the team is way out of their league. No strength on the O-line or D-line, passing game suspect, running game could be better with more o line help. Anyway back to my main point here, I have been at all the games and i see no attendance numbers are reported on the AIFA stats section here is what I would estimate attendance to be since they never announce that either.
Game 1- 1800 (heard they gave out over 1300 comp tickets) Game 2- 1350 (again heard they gave like 500 comp tickets) game 3- 600 (thursday night game) game 4- 1000 (thursday night game) game 5- 1300 (saturday night game 1/3 of the people left at half time because the demolition were getting beat yet again.
I have heard that most teams require in the neighborhood of 1500-1800 per game to break even. Is this correct? If it is then the demolition are not only loosing on the field but at the bank to. Hence the 1 and done theory. I like the overall game but the owners have no clue how to market the games or put on a decent event.
Please give you input.

I agree attendance sucks, but no one seems to be marketing the team in the area. Not too many people even know we have a team. I hope they stay around next year.

Marketing isn't really the strong point of any team in this league.

Marketing isn't really the strong point of any team in this league. I cant speak on behalf of other teams but i know the Express do a fair share of marketing in this area. The attendance has improved from last season as a result. But looking at those attendance #'s from Danville, yea, thats not good. On top of that the travel for road games is ridiculously far. Its no wonder none of the Demolition fans can go on any road trips. Hard to say whether they'll be back or not. I guess that depends on how deep the owners pockets are and if he is gonna improve on marketing the team in 2008. Personally, i hate to see any team fold so i hope they can turn things around.........

we do radio ads on 3 different stations (including espn radio)....along with myself doing interviews each week on those stations along with players....we do billboards (both digital and permanant)...we have TV ads on our local news station as well as spreading some of them out on cable stations...we do newpaper ads in 3 different areas (surrounding counties)...my players distribute flyers of up-coming games at malls and other heavy traffic areas...the players and steam team members make public appearances...i do many lunch conference lecture circuts...as does my head coach...players also go to local elementary schools almost on a weekly basis to read to amnd with children as well as hospital visits....we free radio webcast both home and away games for our fans as well as visiting team fans....we have a myspace page..we have a great fan club...and we have great fans who spread the word...from the top of this organization to the bottom (not that there is a bottom, but you know what i mean) we all help market this team...plus our sponsors help promote us...posters in their windows, pocket schedules on their counter....loud speaker introductions when we are at their restaurants....we even text our scores to these places and they announce how we do on the road etc.... i think i covered what we do

All I can say is WOW. You have it all covered. You have the big 4 with radio, TV, newspaper, and billboards. That's got to be more than most teams.

Yes Bernie works his a$$ off in getting all that stuff done too. I live 18 miles out of Reading and there is an Express billboard about 2 miles from my house. So, they are expanding their marketing. And, as Bernie said, they also do radio advertisements on Y-102 which i listen to every morning and in a half hours time they were mentioned no less than 2 times. I believe Bernie also goes on Y-102 every Friday before a home game to give some tix away and to pass on some general info as to what events will be run on gameday too. Honestly, its much improved from last season, which was out of all our control, and the increase in attendance is the result.......

i have said it many times...i don't know that we are doing things perfectly...from the way we travel... to our home marketing...but i know we're trying....our attendance has gone up every game this year..my players are happy on the road...we work hard to promote our sponsors and our charities...and again i try to keep my players happy, which in turn keeps our product happy which keeps our fans happy and entertained...left one thing out....we answer our phones in the office and our cells and if we don't, we return calls

no....just stating that we do our best to stay accessible to the public....with that amount of marketing, there are bound to be questions of interest...so i want them to be able to be answered and you can't do that if you don't answer phones or return calls

It almost seems that our team is a tax write off for the owner. Like I have said I have seen very little/ none at all advertising. I still try to do my part and get as many people as I know to go to home games as a group and hopefully next year I will get a chance to travel to 1 or 2 away games (hopefully). It really bites that something as positive as this hasn't been promoted in the area more.

Dawg, you mentioned that you have brought many people to games.
Have you found, like I have, once they experience the product, they're hooked?

before dawg answers here is what I have heard and experienced.
this last game i had people behind me talking saying the only reason they wasted their money was to come get drunk with friends. Also from my stand point I like the games but i am by no way hooked. Maybe if it was a better product then maybe I would be more excited.
The advertising as mentioned previously is horrible. They have absolutly no clue how to advertise a sport of any kind. There are so many flaws and problems with their game night operations it is like going to a youth game only worse. The only good thing they do is the punt to win a truck.
Honestly I fear that this is a 1 and done situation because of lack of knowldge on the owners part in reference to running a sporting event. This is the reason teams in the former AIFL have folded 1/2 way or soon after the completion of their first season. Solid ownership and finances are always the keys to a great franchise and I cant say from a fan standpoint i have seen evidence of either in danville.
