So, my question is who would pay to travel from Casper, WY to Reading, PA for an exhibition game? And why would fans be interested in a midseason game if it didn't count. And why would players want to risk playing it if it had no bearing on the outcome of the seasonal standings? Sykotyk So that after the fact the league can decide if it actually will count depending on if the team they want to see win does in fact win (see Carolina/Huntington charity game last year).

My question would be why come over here when your bashing the league on Our Sports? Do you just wait for a post to show up, so you can immediately shoot it down? Joe Because blind faith and patronization are not going to result in anything but the long winding road the NIFL went down. And since when is questioning known as 'bashing'? You love framing everything as an us vs. them issue. You fail to see what you want so you can hold yourself in a position of moral righteousness. I hold every league to a high standard, why can't you? Sykotyk Its hard to believe that you enjoy indoor football on any level considering the way you pick everything apart. If you believe this league is headed the way the NIFL is, do yourself a favor & follow another sport or start your own league and do things your way, which by your posts, would obviously be the right way. It doesnt take a genious to sit back and constantly criticize.

Gene... he's right this time, sorry.
But if we make it through this year, I believe things can be fixed, better. Expanding so much, and so far West, will put a strain on the league- I understand. But with trial and error, things may just turn out great with time.
So while Stykotyk is right as of now, let us hope we can weather the storm.
Chad
ps. This is not a shot at th league, but my aim to show I have hope in them, even when things go wrong.

Why would I follow another sport simply because one league of indoor football is screwing up? I want every league to do well. Just sitting back and being silent accomplishes nothing. So far this league lost 7 teams from last year. Six markets are now dark to this sport. How can you sit there and type that knowing that fans in Erie, Johnstown, Danville, Lakeland, Tallahassee, and Montgomery don't care about what league it was that their team was involved in, just that their indoor football team is now gone. That hurts every league, not just the AIFA. Whether another AIFA team attempts to start in that market now, or another league, they must overcome the past failure.
That hurts the sport overall. And throwing in ADDITIONAL travel to a sport where teams are running on very thin margins as it is and few, if any actually turn a profit, can do nothing more than market it harder for them.
How is pointing that out wrong?
Also, Gene, it doesn't take a genius to sit back and be a 'yes man' to the league.

How is pointing that out wrong? Also, Gene, it doesn't take a genius to sit back and be a 'yes man' to the league. Sykotyk Those teams you mentioned failed because their ownership/market failed, not a result of the league. For example, Erie was given more extensions than normal so they could work out their situation. It was because of fans like Joe,Scooter, Mitch & the rest of the Erie gang on here that those extra extensions were given. Had the league gone by the book, Erie woulda been done months ago.
As far as the travel, the owners pretty much know what they are in for when they buy these teams. For example, when Christner bought Danville he knew there were no other teams in the vicinity. The league is also working on sponsors that will help with the travel costs this season.
I also am not a "yes man" either. I tend to look at the positive side of things rather than come on here and be a constant complainer. If you had the same opportunity as i do in meeting and talking with league ownership, your fears might be eased just a bit. I would suggest that the next press conference or meeting the league has that you show up and voice your opinions to them in person rather than hide behind your keyboard and type a bunch of nonsense.

This is not a shot at th league, but my aim to show I have hope in them, even when things go wrong. I too have the same concerns about the western division but if the league says they can pull it off i support them. Sykotyk is not right, he's just a constant whiner. If he took the time to talk with league ownership maybe he would understand things a bit better. As much as people are worried about travel some of these teams dont seem to mind it. For example, Wyoming coming to Reading was something both of those teams agreed upon. It wasnt forced on them. It is an exhibition game, which to me, is no more than 1 preseason game. This will also give our fans a look at one of the new western teams and this is just another way for the league to market those teams.
This is only the 2nd year of M&M. I think they deserve a shot at making this work. Like most businesses, it takes 3-5 years to get things established. And to be perfectly honest, if Sykotyk were so worried about this league, as he always says he is, he wouldnt be plastering his complaints all over ours and OSC's message boards. That negativity has a way of spreading and getting everyone else riled up. Dont buy into his false concern.....

Gene hit the nail on the head. If everyone was in the same room with the league owners and team owners there wouldn't be an issue. As you can see from the news that comes out on our boards way before a press release. Because they want the fans to know exactly what is happening with the league. And to sum up Gene's statements in one sentence. Go Eat Cake!

I have the same concerns that many of you do regarding travel and the western division. Because I don't really say much doesn't mean I'm not interested or concerned ... I am.
I understand that there are those who have never discussed issues with the ownership of the league. I have been fortunate enough to be involved with at least one of those conversations. However, I also had discussions with the previous league owner and we know how that went. Fair or not, for that reason, I'll probably never be 100% on board. There will always be some skepticism.
I will also point out that the AIFA is the only league in any sport to invite fans to their owners meeting and express concerns. They do hear what we are saying and they are trying to address those issues. For that, they get high marks.
Is it all doom and gloom? No. Is everything moving forward as planned? Probably not. Give them a chance. If things are a mess in April, then unload on them. Until then, the jury is out.

hello all,
i am in florida on vacation with the family, but we brought a laptop so i thought i would check in....first let me say i did not read all 22 of these posts, but let me clear up any express schedule questions.....
we had several problems with the schedule...too many away in a row (3 twice) so we asked about playing a western team in one of our bye weeks and it would be an exibition game and we did make a financial offer to the western teams to come here...the offer then was extended to us to come out there to cover the other bye...so that should answer that...you don't have to like how we do things, but we didn't want the bye weeks and we asked for the exiibition games
as far as the division games, one of our games against pitts. will not be a division counting game..originally we were playing pitts. twice, canton twice, and balt. 3 times..balt. being the closest to us....pitt. and canton would play 3 times, they being closest to each other...either way making 7 divisional games....but do to some of the schedule problems, it was agreed that we and pitts. would play 3 times (eliminating a long trip south) but only 2 games are divisional
...you know you dont have to speculate when it comes to the express, if i can and if its not a ridiculous request, i will answer what you need to know
bernie
ok , back to vacation

how are only 2 of the 3 games divisional? who picks which 2 games count, and when? if the schedule has to be unbalanced, fine - admit it was an impossible situationa nd stick to that. but to artificially compensate for it by making one of the three not count is exacerbating the problem. its just plain stupid - think of all the different scenarios that can and will pop up from game to game and the complaints from one team or the other about which game shouldn't count. we appreciate you letting us in on some of the behind the scenes bernie, but wow, thats just really, really dumb to play a division opponent but say one of them won't count. wow, wrong on sooo many levels.

The Express and RiverRats have probably already decided which game in pitt counts.
Try putting together a league schedule for a 14 team league, without any conflicts. It's a bit hard to do.

i'm glad to see all the negativity is still here....1st complaint , no schedule, 2nd complaint , the schedule....we all know it's not perfect, but we agreed to it, so start accepting it for what it is..
several problems caused some of these issues...several teams only submitted 7 or 8 arena dates...some teams arenas were not available to each other for possible solutions...so til you put all the puzzel pieces together, there had to be some concessions...
like i said we (express) asked to fill our bye weeks.the 3rd pitts. game was just one of several ideas, it just happens to be the one that was agreed to...and yes the non-divisional game will be determined, well before we play....now like i said i am in florida and some of my info. may be different by the time i get home...but the idea was to keep teams in business and not kill um with some big travel games..again uneveitable in some cases, but at least it was tried to help....more dates submitted by individual teams next year will help this along

Unfortuntely, there will never be a right, complete answer for some of these guys. If they couldnt complain they'd have no purpose on this board. John Morris and i talked about this very issue on Monday in Reading. Its just unbelievable that some people complain that there isnt any info then when you feed it to them its in an incorrect manner. Its a no win situation.......
