For the first time this year, we have a fan club for the Legends and we set a table up for that purpose.
Maybe because we're fans like everyine else, but we kept getting people at our table asking where/if something was available, making comments about game day stuff, etc.
We started making a list and we have been presenting these issues to the Legends on a weekly basis. They have done everything they could to satisfy these needs/wants/issues. Their attendance and fan satisfaction is up as a result.
It's not that hard ... find out what your customer wants and deliver it.

They should just look to the Cheifs for some help it seems they promote well, everytime we head to Johnstown for a Royals game they seem to havel the War Memorial filled pretty full.

You can thank the owner, Jim Weber, who owns a marketing company, for the Chiefs' success. When he bought the team a few years ago there was talk that Johnstown would lose hockey.
Jim also helped spur the Hershey Bears' attendance when I was with them ten years ago. He's a go-getter and knows how to build relationships with fans and sponsors. And he takes responsibility for losses and gains.

Hopefully the football team in Johnstown can figure it out, but I have my doubts.

Hopefully the football team in Johnstown can figure it out, but I have my doubts. I hope some sort of local ownership talks to the Riverhawks about having the team sold to their local ownership. Maybe that way we can actually do well. Some of us Riverhawks fans should consider creating a fan club. We might be able to make it work and keep this team up to speed with the Rest of the league.

I don't necessarily think it's a league issue either... I mean, a league can help you cut costs by setting up equipment discounts and scheduling shorter road trips, but it comes down to the owners pulling the strings and having the funds to properly operate a franchise.
It seems to be a problem that plagues most leagues, and it seems like the only thing you can do to prevent it as a league is to require deposits in escrow or a standby letter of credit to guarantee funds are available to operate through the season.
Small infusions of cash from the league are just band-aids and almost do more harm than good - they give the team owner a false sense of security that the league will have their back no matter what, and that's not the responsibility of the league in the first place.

No, the responsibility of the league is to bring in owners that are properly financed, with those letters of credit in case something happens and they become insolvent.
A certain eastern midwest and northeastern league is learning this lesson well.

I Think the information you people get about the riverhawks is far from true. This teams owner Dawson was not able to be there do to some personal matters then it impacted on the team. Think about it they could have folded it but they stuck it out. As for turf they still own it. As for bills its known so get on another subject. If schwelling wouldnt have lied becuase he didnt have enough money to run team I think they would have not bought or atleast got into something which they would have known what they were buying. As for wheres the money come on you people are to funny. If the league is running it why would you ask. I dont understand where everyone is getting this info but I have worked for these guys and this info is far from true that you are getting. I believe dawson and wallace need to make a statement on here to put you all in check. As for the waughs they are theifs. These people are one of the reason this team is not financially stable. You guys get some hard facts before you write stories. I think its great you all talk but get the facts first.

I think that you need to get your facts right. Most of my facts come from players, I think that they would know the true story. That is how I know the turf is not there anymore, and the players had to practice at the local high schools. Or better yet, they didnt have practice at all. As for the Waugh family being thieves you need to check your facts on that as well, for the last 3 seasons that family has put their heart and soul into the Riverhawks, any person knows that. They have opened up their home to players to stay at numerous times. And for you to accuse them of stealing from this team it makes me sick. Ask any of the players or the players families and they will say the same thing, they are a wonderful family. If anyone are thieves it is the owners. Not paying for the bounced checks, I know a couple of the players are still waiting for that money. If you worked for the owners maybe you can tell me when the players are going to get paid for those. And Dawson is just the owner in name. Wallace handles all the money.

Riverhawkgirl21... I do not know how you can say that the Waugh's poured their heart and soul into the organization. Let's go back a few years ago... Johnstown Jackels - GONE Johnstown JDogs - GONE Johnstown Riverhawks - Still living The Riverhawks almost caved because of the Waugh's. Look at the pattern above... The Waugh's were the only people who worked for all three organizations and the first two went under. This was the best thing for the Riverhawks organization to get rid of the Waugh's. I could write a book on the things I know about the Waugh's and their . I feel bad for Haines because he hired Mrs. Waugh for the GM of the minor league hockey team. What a joke. I bet that team will fall through also. Just like the rest of the teams she worked for. The Waugh's are thieves. That statement from riverhawkknown could not have been truer. They stole from the Riverhawks, local businesses, the fans and many more. Again, that was a great move to get rid of the Waugh's.

I would have to agree with Riverhawkgirl21. I have know the Waugh family for the last 3 seasons. They are honest hard working people. They care about the players, and their families. The owners and other people associated with the Riverhawk organization are just looking for someone to blame. And they picked Mr. and Mrs. Waugh. Maybe we should be asking Wallace and Dawson where all the money went... I know that the players would like to get paid, and how about paying off all the debts that they still owe people from last year and this season. You say the Riverhawks are still living, that far from the truth. You cant be alive if you don't have the money to run a team properly. The season is over for the Riverhawks, it is time we moved on, And quit blaming other people for all the things that happened to the Riverhawks, it take just more then 2 people to mess up an organization that was already messed up.
