I am utterly disgusted by the Riverhawk ownership. Recent events of bills not being paid had resulted in the team's field being repossess. So now the team has no field to practice on except a local a High school field. The owners have not payed their staff and anyone who has dealt with the Waugh's know that these people pour their hearts into the Riverhawks. Both owners are at fault for this. They bought this team and they should accept responsibility for it. Numerous players have receive bad checks. This should be impossible since the league gave the team money to pay all the players. I am sick of people covering up for these owners. Things need to be brought out into the light so everyone can know.

I'm sick of this ownership as well. Wallace and Dawson looked like they were a decent duo last year when they took over, I thought you know what, we're going to be a better ran team from the ownership level. I've been pushing constantly for the Riverhawks to be moved to the CIFL or at least some sort of league that is extremely stable and they can make enough money to cover all expenses that they have to cover. I just hope they get some sort of new ownership next year that will keep the team and get them stable, but not just that, get them moved into a new league where they can actually keep stable.

It's not the league, it's the way you run the team. The AIFA probably saved Johnstown from dropping out mid-season, I'm sure any other league wouldn't do that for you, it's not the AIFA that's the problem it's the owners of teams that don't have the money to run the team.

The league did save Johnstown from dropping out mid-season. I am really impressd that they helped the team that much. I am putting no blame on the league. Purely the owners.

1st thing needed..................good ownership 2nd..................marketing
Once those are in place, there should be no reason for this situation. Yea, the league stepped in. Yes, J'town has a quality team. Yes, they do have supportive fans. But, it comes down to(and this goes for every team), you have to spend money to make money. Expect a loss at the beginning. But, with ideas(from fans ie: this messageboard) you can make money. There should not ba an empty seat in the house. Have a college day(2 bucks off), family day, make seats cheaper. Which is better........Noone in a seat or someone paying $5 for a seat? They will spend money elsewhere at a game.

College nights @ Express games always draw well and its a rowdy crowd. I'd have to believe it would work for every team.............

Yeah, if the league can come on in and force the owners to sell and then sell it themselves to another worthy owner, maybe we can stop complaining. And 01, They still have some bills, but yeah I'll give the league credit for helping them get caught up.

I did hear about Josh Lipkin not being paid from several people, including players. There is even some of the coaching staff from last year still hasnt been paid. Since several of the players recieved bad checks, Wallace told the players instead of money how about you can sell some tickets or I give you tickets for your family to use. That is bull. Why would the players want TICKETS instead of the money that they earned! The league was supose to get them all caught up......but no one knows where all the money went!!!!!
But I do agree that the Riverhawks need to be marketed better. A college night would be a great idea.

I was trying to think of promotional nights. College Nights would work well. Heck, try something with College and High School Students from the area, like if they show there student id's, they get like $10 off their tickets.

Holy crikey! I thought Danville was the only one in the crapper. You know it is amazing, I don't have a degree in Economics, but I even know you have to spend money to make it (eco101). To expect to make a profit your first year isn't realistic, second year MAYBE, third year theoretically possible. Hell every owner of any business will tell you to be prepared to go 3 yrs without making any serious money. Granted this is a sport but it is still a business.

Johnstown has two games left, neither of which is at home. We all know that there is no income from away games.
Question becomes ... who will actually be coming to Canton and Montgomery? Johnstown Riverhawks or the Cumberland Valley Cardinals in Riverhawks uni's.
Sad situation indeed. Tough to see one of the original 3 go down.

Tough to see one of the original 3 go down. Erie and Canton have weathered the storm decently... Sounds very similar to what went on in Steubenville..

A few weeks ago the Riverhawks dropped their general admission tickets to 10 bucks instead of 15, but I dont know if that improved their attendance for their last 2 home games. Also they were asking for feedback in an article in the tribune democrat but who knows if dawson or wallace will listen to the fans. Indoor football in Johnstown can work as long as the proper marketing is done. I hope local ownership takes over next year that knows what they are doing b/c attendance is dropping and just the overall product they are giving to the fans is poor.
