Pretty bad when J'town uses a flood reference in a story
Hawks Drown Rats in “River Rivalry 1”
JOHNSTOWN, PA – The Johnstown Riverhawks picked up their third straight win with a 43-13 drubbing of the Pittsburgh Riverrats in an emotional contest Saturday Night at the Cambria War Memorial Arena in Johnstown.
Johnstown, behind a voracious defense, pummeled Rats quarterback Neil Loebig all night, intercepting him three times and sacking him four more time. After being tied at 7, the Hawks offense took over behind quarterback Jarrod Highberger as he would fire his second touchdown strike to Quenteen Robinson and would also find Michael Caputo to make it a 20- 6 score. Then after a strong defensive stand that featured two sacks, defensive end Neil Wood, in just his second game for the Riverhawks, blocked a Pittsburgh field goal and fell on it in the endzone for a touchdown. The hawks would go to the half with a 36-13 advantage.
The second half was all Johnstown defense as Johnstown shut out the Riverrats in the second half behind a strong secondary performance by defensive backs Trent Jones, Ronnie Montgomery and Michael Bowman. Montgomery would return his second interception 16 yards for a touchdown and Trent Jones would add a 6-yard touchdown run on offense for the final mark. Chad Kuzemchak added an interception for the Hawk defense and newly acquired nose guard Mike Marshall also added 2 sacks for Johnstown. Head Coach Steven G. Folmar was happy with his team’s performance throughout the game, “It was a very emotional contest, there is a lot of bad blood between these two teams. They have at least four guys who have played in Johnstown before. They also are a very vocal team, so I am really proud of not only how we played, but how the guys kept their heads.”
The Johnstown Riverhawks, a proud member of the American Indoor Football Association, will now travel to the Huntington Heros, looking to avenge a 35-24 loss from earlier in the season on Saturday Night in Huntington.
