Riverhawks Tab Folmar to Lead Them Into the Future
JOHNSTOWN, PA – The Johnstown Riverhawks of the American Indoor Football League have announced a new head coach to lead them in 2007. Riverhawks owners, Michael Dawson and James Wallace, announced Steven G. Folmar as the 2nd Head Coach in Riverhawks history at a press conference last week. Folmar signed a three- year deal with the Riverhawks and is excited about the future of professional football in Johnstown. “Signing a multi-year deal in Indoor football is almost unheard of but the owners, as well as myself, wanted some stability as well as an opportunity to build a franchise, “
Folmar, a native and resident of Meadville, PA, brings a wealth of arena and indoor experience to Johnstown. In 2006, Folmar was the Head Coach of the now defunct Raleigh Rebels of the AIFL. The Rebels finished 8-6 and advanced to the Southern Division championship game, despite going through three different ownership groups throughout the season. While with the Rebels, Coach Folmar had the conference sack leader Terrance Chapman (13), the conference leader in touchdown receptions Lavel Bailey (32), as well as the Conference Defensive Player of the Year, John Williamson.
Folmar was the defensive coordinator of the Central Valley Coyotes of the arena football league 2 in 2005 under Head Coach Fred Biletnikoff Jr. He has over 7 years experience in indoor football, including the Arena Football League, af2, the AIFL as well as experience coaching college football.
Coach Folmar is currently looking to fill out his staff as well as recruiting for the 2007 season.
