The Legends defense pitched a shutout as Canton returned to their winning ways with a 38-2 shellacking of the Baltimore Blackbirds at the Civic Center Friday night.
The defending champs picked off 5 Blackbird passes, 2 of which were taken back for touchdowns by Jo Jo Polk and newly acquired Roosevelt Benjamin.
A safety, awarded when a holding penalty against the Legends was called in the end zone, was the only Baltimore score on the evening.
The Blackbirds remain winless in their five games, while the Legends move to 5-2 and look forward to the rematch with Reading next week.

uhhh that sounds like the closest they have come to winning so its not exactly bragging rights we played mostly our second string and beat them 80-20

uhhh that sounds like the closest they have come to winning so its not exactly bragging rights we played mostly our second string and beat them 80-20 I was unaware that we all play Baltimore for "bragging rights" as to how bad we beat them. The Legends offense still is not getting it done. Considering that the defense put 12 on the board, the kicker had 8 points that means our offense put just 18 on the board against Baltimore, not one of the stellar defenses in the league. If we don't get our offense clicking, and soon, we will get rolled again by Reading on Saturday.

What is that about 1/3 of their points came from defense. Sounds like the Offense is still struggling with only 38 scored on what has to be the worst team in the league. I think Reading scored somewhere around 50 or so in the first half.

I don't understand why you have to beat a team by 90 points to prove anything. Regardless if they are that bad. Running up the score is selfish IMO

We really didn't try to run the score up. We played our second string the whole second half. And on top of that we ran the ball more that half than we did all season. Plus you all know how explosive this league is and how some major points can be scrored in a matter of a few minutes.

I must say good job to the defense for almost putting a shutout on the board. They would have had it if it wasn't for that penalty. Our defense let down for one play that is what took our shutout away.

You have 20 guys on the team and 16 are starters, when you say you played the "Second Team" did you throw the waterboys and the trainer out there?

All I have to say a win is a win no matter the score.....the defense did really good but the offense needs some work. Not to bad though they just need better play calling and work on their passing scheme a bit. I dont think the game next week against Reading will be as bad as the first meet but I dont see the Legends winning this one from what I seen last night.

The problem on off is that once we get inside the 10 we have problem with the short field twice last night we were inside the 6 and couldn't puch it in that is where we miss knapp plus our running back needs to hold on to the ball on the pitch play. It was more we stop our self than baltimore did.

It was a good game (my first of the year), but the offense definitely wasn't clicking. The crowd was pretty decent too, especially compared to 2005 and some of 06.
Interestingly, I swear I saw Haines in the crowd.
