Well, I have always felt if I can come on the board and post before the game and after a win, I'd better be man enough to come back after a loss.
The CEC ceiling isn't bad except for the speakers that hang above the 15 to 20 yard line on the north end. Makes one way easier kicking than the other. With a kicker like the Express has, it didn't matter, he just kicked from the "G" instead of the center and most of his KO attempts split the uprights. I have never understood why we don't pull them up into the rafters during the football games. They are on a pulley system (I think).
Our no kicking game cost us well over 10 points on the Express side of the scoreboard. TD on blocked FG (with PAT and uno), Safety on blocked FG, plus the fact it put us into an failed onside kick situation that basically gave the Express a quick score. That's an easy 17 points. But hands down, the Cavalry's fall started in the middle of the second quarter when Strand went cold.
PS. Anyone know where the officiating crew was from? They weren't our normal crew.
Maybe with no kicker it was a strategy to keep the speakers down? I must say I never heard of a thrown ball hitting an object hanging from the speaker before last night.
As for the officials, I heard (TWITAIFA, I think)) it was a selection of refs from around the league. They needed velcro toward the end of the game, as their flags kept falling to the ground
Rock almost always kicks from the right side (facing the opposite end zone) Maybe it's due to scoreboards that often hang in the hockey arenas? Harrisburg was interesting, he would kick it aside of the scoreboard in the center (I was on the opposite side of the field and the ball would go aside of the SB in route to the end zone)

The no kicker strategy has always had me baffled. it works when you don't play a good team and you are miles ahead but in a close game you have to have a kicker. We never need one untill the playoffs and I don't think Majic realizes the importance of one. Well maybe he does now after last night. But in all honesty you should have a skilled player in that position.
As far as the ball hitting the speakers from the pass that was the first time I had seen it there. It was a pretty throw while it lasted LOL

Official Congrats to the Express from the Thunder fans on a fantastic season. You guys fought through ups and downs and proved to be the best team in the league.
We're proud of the Cavs for representing the West well. Everyone has room to improve, and this will surely fuel the fire for our division. Congrats again to all on a fantastic season!

I agree. Having a kicker in this sport is crucial & it is baffling as to why the Cavs coach chooses not to have one. With the thin air out there a kicker could really thrive. Its bizarre & i believe mighta cost the Cavs this game. But like you mentioned that philosophy might work when you play bad teams but when you play the good ones it wont. Maybe this loss will change that philosophy....
I saw the Championship Game this past Monday. Reading is gonna smoke Wyoming. Altitude or not. Reading by atleast 20. Congrats Reading on being the 2009 AIFA Champs.
Well you were right on both predictions. Reading won & by 20+.
